March 2008
Hello everyone! Sorry it is has been a while since I have written but the group has been enjoying a little slow time during the winter months. However, that is coming to an end. The spring months usually bring more road trips and work for us. Right now, we are trying to get ready to go into the studio to record again. I know many of you are thinking it's about time! I couldn't agree more. There is so much work that goes into a new project. First, you have to find the right songs and we all agree on what we record. Then comes arranging the songs to get the best sound. Next, we hit the studio. We should be recording tracks on the 11th of March and this is always the exciting part for me. I love listening to the studio musicians put their creative touches on the songs. We will go back later in the month or in April and record the lyrics. That part is not so much fun! That is when we work the hardest. But it all pays off when we hear the final CD. So, I'll try to keep you informed of what is happening as we go. There are usually some funny stories while working on the project so I will be sharing those with you.
This weekend will be our first long weekend on the road since November so you might want to say an extra prayer for me or the guys. Don't know yet which will need prayers the most. We have to get used to being back in that van for more than 6 hours this trip! I have my MP3 player ready and a new book to read. Shane will have his cell phone charged no doubt. Randy always brings along his GPS so we can find our way since we are so famous for getting lost. We leave Tony in charge of finding the places to eat along the way. We will be traveling to Muncie, Indiana to sing Saturday evening and Sunday morning with some of the best folks in the north - West Side United Baptist Church. We love going up there even though it is cold. We always receive a warm welcome by the people and the Holy Spirit. Usually we get some really good cooking while we're there. I have shared many recipes that I have gotten from the dinners in Muncie. I'll have to see what delicious dish I can find this trip.
We will be singing at the Youth Retreat for Christ in Pigeon Forge on March 7th at 7:00 and Saturday the 8th at 10:30 at the Grand Hotel and Convention Center. This will be the first time for the guys but I sang at the retreat two other times with Higher Calling several years ago. They always have a great turn-out and spiritual services and we are really looking forward to being with them this year. Then we will be in Johnson City at Keystone Free Will Baptist Church on Sunday morning the 9th at 11:00. This is the famous place where I fell coming off the platform. Hopefully, I will be more graceful this time. We will also be singing at Adriel Baptist Church in Bean Station on Sunday morning March 16th at 11:00. This will be close to home and we are looking forward to worshipping with these great people again.
I have been invited to speak at a Women's Retreat at Maple HIll Baptist Church in Rogersville on Saturday, March 15th. The meeting will begin at 10:00 and should last a couple of hours with lunch and fellowship following around noon. Paula Davis is the pastor's wife and I have known this sweet family for many years. Their daughters took piano from me and I grew very close to them. I feel very honored to have been asked to share my testimony and songs with these wonderful ladies. I hope you can be a part of this special day. If you need more information, you can call (423) 272-8802 or email the group and I will get back in touch with you. There will be a nursery provided for infants to 5 years old. I am looking forward to seeing many of you there.
We have a concert coming up in April that you will want to put on your calendar. On Friday, April 25th at Robinson Middle School we will be with the Primitive Quartet for an evening of worship and fellowship. We always have a great time when we are in service together and are looking forward to working with them again. The concert will begin at 7:00 and for more information you can call (423) 863-1326.
Our latest release to radio "I Can't Complain" has reached #37 for the next charting period. We are so pleased with the response to this sweet song. The message is simple but very true. God is so good to all of us. The good days truly outweigh the bad ones for a Christian. Please continue to request the song on your local radio station.
I believe that is all for now. Please continue to pray for our ministry and our families. When we are in your area, please come and be with us. It makes us feel so good when we see those familiar faces. We truly appreciate your support and all the love you give us. God has richly blessed us with great friends! God bless you all!
With joy,
Karen
